The Dr. Peter Centre Residence has flexible volunteer shifts, 7 days a week from 9AM to 8PM. The shifts vary in length from 2 to 3 hours.
  • General Residence Volunteer: You would provide companionship and support to the residents and their visitors by simply spending time together, playing cards, running errands or accompanying residents to scheduled appointments. You may also assist staff with some meal preparation and/or light housekeeping duties.
  • We welcome any ideas you may have about how you could volunteer in the Dr. Peter Residence.
Specific Residence Volunteer Opportunities
  • Community Garden Volunteer: You enjoy gardening and would enjoy accompanying a resident to a community garden with a raised, wheelchair accessible garden plot. If you are interested in gardening and enjoy working in the soil, this may be for you. Transportation to garden plot is supplied. Time commitment: April to September.
  • Bingo Game Facilitator: You enjoy interacting with the residents and would assist staff with organizing and facilitating the game, assisting residents in marking their cards and helping to distribute prizes.
  • Swimming Out Trip Assistant: You would accompany staff and residents for an outing to a community pool. You do not have to be able to swim or go in the water. You would assist residents in change room before and after swim. Transportation is supplied.
